RACE TECH G3-S RACE RESULTS
Scott Charlton JULY 31- AUGUST 2 Heartland Park Topeka, Kansas
Scott Charlton joins Aussie Dave Racing. Aussie Dave racing, Murrieta California- With the injury sustained by team owner and lead rider David Anthony at the Ohio AMA weekend the team was in need of a rider capable of keeping the #25 Aussie Dave Racing GSXR 1000 inside the top 10. Scott has been mixing it at the front in the Australian Superbike Championship for a number of years now and is ready for the challenge. It is going to be a tall task for Scott working with a new team and going straight into racing a bike he has never ridden, we believe Scott has the ability to put the bike inside the top 10 so fingers crossed for a great weekend. Scott also has commitments back in Australia and will fly straight to Eastern Creek Raceway in Sydney Australia for round 4 of the Australian Superbike Championship, he will then fly straight back to compete at Virginia International Raceway. Scott- It’s been a crazy week, I got a call from the team four days ago and now I’m in Kansas , I still don’t have all of the paperwork for my license but we should have all that worked out by Friday. This is a great opportunity as I have always wanted to come and race in the AMA. David has proved what the bike is capable of and now the rest is up to me. This is a good weekend for my first AMA race as this is a new track and I don’t believe the other guys have had too much track time around here, hopefully we can get a set up quickly and then is just a matter of getting used to the bike and learning the track before the first race. In his first outing with the Team, Scotty took to the track and the bike quickly which put him in the 13th spot on the starting grid after qualifying Friday afternoon. Early morning rain on Saturday canceled the second qualifying attempt and practice session. The green flag dropped and Scotty showed great skill on the track proving that he could keep the number 25 Suzuki gsxr-1000 competitive. He finished up his first race in the 12th spot just behind Roadracingworld's Chris Ulrich and ahead of Motogarage’s Scotty Jenson. Race 2 on Sunday was an exciting battle only this time Scotty was able to put the bike in the 10th position at the checker! His Goal of a top ten in his first effort in Superbike here in the US was realized and Left Scotty with the desire to come back and push ever closer to the front of the pack at VIR. Thanks to all of you for everything you do for us, without your help and support, we would not here! Sincerely,
JULY 17 – 19 Mid Ohio “Aussie” Dave Anthony out for the rest of the season AMA Superbike rider #25 has serious crash in Ohio. Four laps after running his best qualifying time, putting him in 3rd for the session, David Anthony high sided. The crash resulted in a severe fracture of his thigh bone, the femur. The break occurred when his GSXR 1000 landed on his leg. He was taken to the local Emergency Room and then transferred to the Trauma Center at Akron General Hospital. He spent the night with his leg in traction because the bone was displaced, resulting in his right leg being 2 inches shorter than the left. He had Orthopedic surgery and is now recovering well.
David grew up in Melbourne, Australia and moved to America 3 years ago. Aussie Dave has worked hard over the past three years to create his own team and has become a top Privateer. David would like to thank all of the people who have helped him achieve this and all of the people who have reached out during this tough time. He will be unable to race for the remainder of this season. His plans are for serious rehabilitation and training; to return stronger than ever. He hopes to get a ride on a team next year, or get financial sponsorship, allowing him to continue racing and give him the opportunity to truly showcase his riding abilities.
